Justin Teltschik, Managing Partner

Justin Teltschik

Mr. Teltschik most recently was a Principal at The Carlyle Group working in the Carlyle Energy Mezzanine Opportunities Group from 2011 through 2016. He was primarily responsible for sourcing, reviewing and structuring upstream investments in the $25-$250 million range. During his tenure here, he utilized his large industry network to originate more than 500 upstream E&P deals. He was formerly Vice President at Imperial Capital, a middle-market focused Energy Investment Banking Group where he focused on financing, mergers and acquisitions and restructuring assignments for upstream and oil service companies. Prior to his tenure at the bank, he was Vice President and a founding member of Petrobridge Investment Management, an energy fund specializing in upstream oil & gas mezzanine investments. As one of only five employees, he was responsible for several roles including client origination, deal structuring, leading due diligence activities, and managing day to day relationships with each portfolio client. Prior to the energy fund’s inception in 2003, he worked in Royal Dutch Shell’s Producer Finance Group which focused on upstream oil and gas mezzanine financings. At Shell, his team successfully closed and managed a portfolio in excess of $500 million. He has also held previous finance positions at El Paso Energy and Fidelity Investments. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Geology from Washington & Lee University and an MBA from Southern Methodist University.


J.W. Sikora, Managing Partner

JW Sikora

Mr. Sikora most recently served as a Principal with The Carlyle Group in the Energy Mezzanine Opportunities Group from 2013 through 2016. Based in Houston, Mr. Sikora’s responsibilities consisted of business development and origination of debt and equity investment opportunities in the upstream and midstream sectors, investment structuring, valuation, execution of legal documentation, due diligence, and ongoing portfolio management. Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Sikora spent five and a half years as an Assistant Vice President with TCW/EIG Global Energy Partners in their Houston office. As a member of the EIG investment team, Mr. Sikora focused on mezzanine debt and equity investments made across the energy value chain in the upstream, midstream, mining, and power sectors. During his tenure at TCW/EIG, Mr. Sikora was involved in 17 financings totaling over $4.5 billion. His responsibilities included valuation, investment structuring, due diligence, and portfolio management. Prior to TCW/EIG, he was a Senior Analyst for NGPC Capital Resources and worked as a member of their investment team focused on mezzanine facilities provided to the energy industry. Mr. Sikora holds a B.A. in economics from the University of Texas at Austin.


Patrick Ponce, Chief Operating Officer / Chief Financial Officer

Patrick Ponce

Mr. Ponce joined Cibolo Energy Partners in July of 2017 as COO and CFO. Patrick has served in senior management roles within the energy, real estate and private equity industries. Most recently he served as a Vice President within the capital markets group of AvalonBay, a multifamily real estate investment trust with a market capitalization of nearly $30 billion, where he focused on various capital market transactions as well as numerous acquisitions and dispositions and joint venture structuring transactions. Prior to that, he was a Vice President with The Carlyle Group, where he focused on transaction structuring and execution as well as overall fund management primarily related to Carlyle's international energy funds. Previously, he was a Vice President with Valerus Compression Services, LP, a TPG portfolio company, where he was instrumental in the completion of over $1 billion in transaction activity both within the U.S. and internationally. Patrick also served in a senior management role at Genesis Energy, LP, a large publicly traded master limited partnership, with a focus on the midstream segment of the energy value chain.

Patrick began his career in public accounting and was most recently a Manager within the Transaction Advisory Services group of Ernst & Young where he focused on transaction due diligence and tax structuring. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Southern Methodist University and a Master's in Accounting as well as an MBA in Finance and Management from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a CPA licensed in the state of Texas.


Arvel Martin, Senior Vice President, Engineering

Mr. Martin joined Cibolo Energy in July 2017. Prior to joining Cibolo, he served as a Consultant to the Raymond James and Associates Energy Group as Senior Technical Advisor working with their acquisitions and divestment team. Prior to Raymond James, he was engaged in various positions by Castleton Commodities, Inc., Guggenheim Partners, LLC., Constellation Energy, Enron Upstream Finance, Scotia Waterous and others. In these positions, he has evaluated and managed numerous projects ranging in size from $40MM to $250MM. He began his professional career with Conoco and has over 35 years of experience in A&D activities, reservoir engineering, upstream operations and asset management. Mr. Martin obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University and completed the Rice University Executive MBA program.


Matt Wilkirson, Associate

Matt Wilkirson

Mr. Wilkirson joined Cibolo Energy Partners in 2017. Prior to joining Cibolo, he was an Analyst in the Oil and Gas Investment Banking Group at Credit Suisse. While at Credit Suisse, he worked on capital markets and M&A transactions across the oil & gas sector. He is a graduate of Texas Christian University with a B.B.A degree in Finance and a minor in Energy.


Bethany Hadden, Office Manager

Bethany Hadden

Mrs. Hadden joined Cibolo Energy Partners in 2017 and has over 10 years of experience in Human Resources and Executive support. She most recently served as an HR Business Partner with Lewis Energy Group, a vertically integrated E&P company with operations in South Texas, Mexico and Colombia. During this time, she worked alongside executives to manage projects in Human Resources, Legal, Public Relations and Health, Safety and Environment. Prior to that, Mrs. Hadden served as a Human Resources Specialist for Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union where her main focus was recruitment for the Consumer Lending Center. She started her career as the Business Assistant to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the Texas A&M University Health Science Center. Mrs. Hadden holds a B.S. in Human Resources from Texas A&M University and graduated with Cum Laude Honors.
